Children may come into contact with corrosive liquids while playing, which can result in injuries to the eyes or skin.
Actions:
- Stay calm and reassure the child.
- The eyes should be immediately rinsed with water.
Caution!
Protect the other eye, nose, and mouth from the used water. - Take the child to the hospital or call emergency services (112).
If the skin has been chemically burned, remove the child’s clothes and place them under a shower or in a bathtub.
- Shower the child with cool water (around 20°C).
- For transport, wrap the child in clean, wet towels or apply wet bandages.
